THE PROJECT PAEIAS, protection of marine resources
The City of Caorle, in these days, has officially joined the project PAEIAS, formally proposed a program of European funding. The project PAEIAS (Protected Areas Efficiency in Adriatic Sea), aims to explore innovative forms of collaboration involving scientists, staff of protected areas and stakeholders, which may be the fishermen, with the goal of preserving 1) the natural and ersit y the biodiverse marine ecosystems (from single species to ecosystem functions), 2) the economics related to small-scale fisheries (increasing and stabilizing yield) 3) cultures anddiversity-related knowledge and traditions of local fishing communities. PAEIAS The Project was presented last week, before the expiry of the terms of the contract of 2009, the management authority of the CBC IPA Adriatic, from the copofila project: the University of Primorska in Koper (Slovenia). The project is the result of nearly two years of work within the network AdriaPAN coordination with other research institutes of the Adriatic area.
