Best ways to get to Venice for a great day out

Whilst enjoying your holidays at the sea in Caorle, you can visit one of the most beautiful jewels of Italy, Venice.
Caorle is not more than 60 km away from Venice. Organising a day out to Venice is very simple. You can choose between the boat (motonave Caorle), bus, train or your own car.
The Motonave Caorle (boat trip) is probably the nicest and most relaxing way to arrive to Venice. It departs each morning from Caorle’s old fishing port. After a peaceful boat trip along the Venetian coast line, you will arrive to Riva degli Schiavoni, which is only a few minutes walk away from St. Mark’s Square. Seeing Venice from the sea, specially for the first time, is a breath taking and unforgettable experience.
The local regional buses (A.T.V.O) also offers an alternative route. You can buy a ticket which includes both bus and ferry. The bus departs in the morning from Caorle’s bus station and takes you to Punta Sabbioni where you will be able to catch a ferry to Venice. The A.T.V.O also provides an all day ticket which also includes the usage of local ferry boats in Venice itself. This is an economic an interesting option!
Or, why not drive to Punta Sabbioni (approx. 40 minutes by car) Leave your car at the various all day private car parks (reasonable charges) and embark on the ferry towards Venice. With the local ferry tourists also have a chance to visit the Venetian islands of Burano and Murano…very picturesque!
Another option is to drive to the local train stations of San Donà di Piave or Portogruaro (from 25 to 35 min by car) leave your car at the free car par and catch a train directly to Venezia Santa Lucia train station. Trains are quite frequent and run long into the night. This is another fast and cheap option, however, trains can be quite packed specially on festive days. All in all, there are many options to get to Venice. We recommend those by sea as they coffer unique and unforgettable emotions. What is highly not recommended is to drive to Venice itself. Car Parking at Piazza Roma is very expensive and the area around Venice is always quite busy with traffic. Once arrived in Venice, you can discover the city by using the local ferries along the canals (a day ticket is highly recommended) or you can loose yourself amongst the narrow ‘cales’ and discover an open air museum. There are many signs and indications on how to arrive to the main tourist attractions (Rialto, Accademia, St Mark’s square…)
