CAORLE HINTERLAND
The surrounding areas of Caorle are areas of small residential towns and kilometres of agricultural lands. The primary industry of these small modern rural towns is agriculture. For example San Giorgio di LIvenza, Castello di Brussa, Ca’ Corniani e Ca’ Cottoni.
Situated at only 3 Km from Caorle, Ca’ Corniani is definitely worth a visit. Built by the river Livenza, you can find two courts which are examples of Venetian rural architecture and a splendid old wine cellar.
San Gaetano, located at 5 km north of Caorle, is a small residential area which was once famous as it was once land of the Franchetti noble family. San Gaetano, however, was famous during the fifties and sixties due to a flood of known American personalities (Henry Fonda, Ernest Hemingway) and Venetian nobles who enjoyed going hunting in this area.
The older inhabitants of San Gaetano still look back on the days dedicated to hunting and the marvellous parties hold at the “Franchetti” residence in the company of such renowned personalities
